“... there is no difference in
principle between a universe,
a religion, and a hoax.
All involve an engineering of
manifestation, or practical
fiction, that is ultimately
unworthy of belief. Nothing
is true, because everything
is under production.”

― CCRU: Writings 1997 - 2003

About︎

We at Xeno Futurism want to give you a warm welcome to our collective: a magazine and experimental journal.

Our goal is to create a platform that facilitates critical theory applications on contemporary issues by knitting rhizomic webs between the humanities and natural sciences. Heavily inspired by the cross germinating writings of CCRU that range from Science Fiction to Kabbalistic analysis, art and culture collectives like 0rphan Drift, as well as the cyberfeminist works of Donna Haraway and Firestone.

We want to delve into the interdisciplinary research of philosophy, esotericism and the arts, looking at these subjects from evolving perspectives. As an experimental journal, we operate at the intersection of quantitative scientific praxis and the phenomenological avant-garde. For us critical theory is a conceptual tool making hostile to the extraction and subjectification of Capital and the state, besides its use as a tool to analyse the social aspects and patterns of human and environmental behaviour.  Science, technology and other technical fields give us the data necessary to ground our speculative discussion. Scientific repeatability necessitates reliability and controlled variables to give solidness and efficacy to a theory. Art and theosophy add another layer of complexity, often revealing emotional and abstract information we cannot yet explain.

We believe that all of these frameworks can work in tandem to uncover a more holistic understanding of the world. We may for example read a tabloid article about how vaccines work or how genetic engineering can help prevent disease, but we don’t read how healthcare is harder for a trans and/or a black person to navigate and access or how genetic engineering can be considered ableistic eugenics. These sorts of discussions shouldn’t be labelled as ‘controversial,’ just because they aren’t included in the mainstream status quo. Through each of our issues, we aspire to analyse societal progress, explore new and emerging theories and themes and help forge new understandings of collective emerging utopias.
